How to Make AI Hugging Videos for Free Tutorial (With images)

You've already heard of the new AI hugging video trend raking in thousands of views on social media and want an AI generated hug video for yourself? There's a couple of options to get one: you can upload two images and relax while we create one for you or if you want to put a bit of work yourself - you can create one by following the instructions written further down below. Here are the steps you can follow to create AI hugging videos for free using the most recent AI video generation models.

Step 1. Find photos you want to use:

You'll need two photos of people you want to see hugging. For the best results make sure that your photos have the following features:

  • Decent quality
  • At least the upper side of the body is visible
  • Person's face is clearly visible, best if the person is looking at the camera so that likeness in the video would be retained
  • Photos were taken in a well lit environment
  • Both photos have simmilar lighting and environment
  • The more contrast between the person in the photo and the background the better
  • To avoid more editing, make sure that people are of similar size in the photos
  • For least editing both photos should be taken in vertical position

Step 2. Edit the photos:

This step will require you to open the photos in some image editing software such as: PhotoShop, Figma, Gimp etc. But would not recommend Paint as resizing in it makes the images lose their quality. I will be using Figma as it's easy to use, doesn't require any downloads and it's free.

Open Figma by heading to their website located at https://www.figma.com/. In the top right corner click "Log in" or if you don't have an account click the "Get started for free" button. A modal will pop up asking you for the credentials you can enter them or use your google account to log in. After logging-in you'll be redirected to the dashboard where you can either select an already created project or create a new one by clicking "New design file" button. In the opened design page drag and drop the photos from the folder where they're located.

If the photos are not the same size: click the corner of the photo you want to resize and holding shift key (this will keep the ratio of the photo constant) and drag the cursor until the size of the images are roughly the same. Now let's add the two images together side by side. Click one photo and drag it to the other one. Try to make sure that the people are as close to one another as possible. You can cut the sides of the image if there's a large gap between the people. After you get the people side by side, select both images by holding shift key and clicking both of them. Now click the second mouse button and select "Group selection" option to group both images together. Next, on the bottom right corner of the interface click "Export group" button. Now the photos will be downloaded as one image.

Step 3. Generate AI hugging video:

For the third and the last step we'll put our image through an AI video generator using a prompt or in other words text that specifies what we want the AI to generate. For this tutorial I'll be using KlingAI because of their generous free credits for new users, but AI video models such as Lumalabs, Runway, Veo2 or Sora can be used to generate AI hugging videos as well. You can check more about the best AI video generation models in 2025 here.

Navigate to https://www.klingai.com/ and in the top right corner click "Sign in for free credits" button. You'll be able to sign in using your Apple, Google accounts or using a personal email. After logging-in in the left panel click "AI Videos" link.

In the "Start / End Frame and Prompt" section drag and drop the image we've created in step 2. In "prompt" field, enter "Hugging each other" or you can experiment and try some other prompts as well. Click "Generate" button.

Depending on the number of people using the KlingAI video generator you'll need to wait at least 6-10 hours untill the video will be generated. If you're using something else than KlingAI you can add multiple videos in the queue so that you'd have at least a few choices, because glitchy generations is a common thing with the current video generators. Unfortunately for us, KlingAI does not allow free users to queue more than 1 video for free users.

And here it is folks! You've just generated an AI hugging video all by yourself:

Hope you enjoy the virtual hug you've just generated. Now it can be shared with your friends and family members to bring a smile or a light chuckle with this creation that not so long ago was only something you could read about in the science fiction books.
