The best AI video generation model 2025
In the AI world it seems that every week there's a new technology coming out. As with text generation models like ChatGPT AI video generation models are also a plenty. As I've played with quite a few of them I decided to make a rough around the edges comparison post. I've also decided to enumerate them in the top five. Disclaimer: the quality of videos might be more subjective in some cases than others this is a list comprised from my own personal experience using these models and also getting feedback from others. I suggest you to take this list with a grain of salt and test the models yourself. Putting that aside if you're reading this later in the year, chances are this will already be outdated, I'm sure that some new model will have come out that blows away the current ones out of the water. Either way I think it might be useful for some to get a grasp on the current state of things.

Veo 2
Veo2 short for VideoFX 2 developed by Google. For some, the release of Veo2 returned the hope for the search giant - something that has been lost by their apparent inability to compete in the space where their researchers discovered many breakthroughs required for the development of AI models.
At the time of writing Veo 2 model seems to be the best one, the thing that separates this model from all the others is the physics side of things. Put simply - things move like they should. Ask for a tracking shot with a 35mm lens and you'll get exactly that. Not a lot of weird glitches, no extra fingers appearing out of nowhere. Plus it does 4K and longer videos, which is rare. With all the positives Veo 2 still struggles with text - it appears all mixed up and unreadable in most cases.

Cons

Kling AI
Developed by Chinese company Kuaishou. Kling is pretty good with faces and might have been the first model that passed the famous Will Smith eating spaghetti test. It's also pretty good with transitions: provide it an end frame, enter a prompt, and it'll create a 5-10 second video transitioning there. They've also have lip syncing with changeable voices.

- Lip syncing functionality
- First to pass Will Smith eating spaghetti test
- Easy to access
- Provides free credits to create videos with
Cons
- Not as good with physics as the Veo2
- Long waiting times (3h+) to generate videos for free tier
Sora
Sora is a model developed by the developers of ChatGPT - OpenAi. Being one of the most impressive models it still has more problems with physics and moving objects compared to the models mentioned above but over all a solid video generation model and close in capabilities to Kling AI. In terms of speed when compared to Veo 2 Sora is usually faster-paced with actions and camera movement often moving faster and a bit more chaotic.

Cons
- Needs a ChatGpt subscription to access
Runway
Runway is developed by an American company named...you guessed it - Runway. Over all a pretty good model that shines the most because of the focus on the camera controls. You describe camera movement and the generated video is following it pretty well. Users are able to choose between 5 and 10 second video length.
Pros:
- Easy to access
- Provides free monthly credits to generate AI videos for free
- Camera controls
Cons
- Glitchier generations when compared with the models mentioned above
Dream machine
Dream machine developed by an American, San-Francisco based company Luma labs at the time of Launch in june of 2024 was a very impressive model but at the current date, it got surpassed by it's peers.
Pros:
- Easy to access

Cons
- Surpassed in capabilities by the newer models
